A place with history & glamor
After a long period of vacancy, "Das Murany" was created on the top floor of the magnificent Grand Hotel de l'Europe in Bad Gastein in 2025-26, following the philosophy that tradition does not mean worshipping the ashes, but passing on the fire.
The design of the rooms is based on the sketches of a former Soho House designer from New York, which were realized with uncompromising effort: The woodwork, for example, is the work of a carpenter for the Ralph Lauren house. Local craftsmen laid tropical parquet flooring, applied Turkish wallpaper and installed English fittings. Hundreds of meters of velvet were worked by hands that normally sew for opera houses. The marble for the bathrooms was supplied by the British company that furnishes legends such as London's Claridge's and Harrods.

The Murany - history and promise
The name is a tribute to Ferdinand of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1861-1948). As the scion of one of the most widely ramified dynasties in Europe, he became Tsar of Bulgaria by historical accident. Under the imaginary name "Count Murany", he stayed in this house several times and met his mistress for intimate soups.
